A hundred-year-old wooden homestead by a clear mountain stream — where everyday objects and the warmth of the kitchen fire tell one story, and every traveller finds slow living in the heart of "Mế".
In the highland language of Cao Bằng, "Mế" means Mother — the first word a child of these mountains ever speaks. Mế Farmstay grew from the quiet gratitude of four sons towards a mother who sacrificed her whole life after their father passed away early.
Today that private gift has become a shared home — one that has twice had the honour of welcoming General Secretary Tô Lâm, and where every guest is received like family coming home.

Family-style trays served beside the kitchen fire, with produce sourced directly from farming households around the village. The restaurant seats up to 376 guests — group meals, banquets and custom menus welcome, vegetarian options available.
There are no glass cases at Mế. Every artefact sits exactly where life put it — the bamboo basket by the wall, the loom on the porch, the stone mill in the yard — and guests may touch, use, and listen to its story.

Architecture — the greatest artefact is the house itself: dry-stacked stone walls and yin-yang roof tiles interlocking like two clasped hands.
Spaces — stone fences, pebble paths, brocade on the walls… arranged from village memory, with real artefacts placed in every room.
Objects — looms, stone mills and rattan baskets collected from families around the region, each soon to carry its own story label.
